Universal+ and Exo-Core Valve Lengths Explained:

Both the Universal+ and Exo-Core valves use the same base stem. This is to allow an upgrade path from Universal+ to Exo-Core by the purchase of Exo-Core Housing Kit. 

The Exo-Core Housing Kit quickly converts Stan’s Universal+ valves to Stan’s revolutionary full-featured Exo-Core tubeless valves. Included in the kit are one pair each of the Exo-Core housing and brass core pin. 

To make the conversion to Exo-Core, simply remove the Presta valve core from the Universal+ valve body, insert the Exo-Core brass core, and twist on the Exo-Core housing.

For this reason, you will notice the fit guide for both valves is identical. There are possibilities that the Universal+ may fit rim depths outside the parameters of the fit guide but then would not be compatible with the upgrade path and were omitted.
